Martin Thomas from the British Trust for Ornithology will be talking about his work and research involving the trapping, ringing and monitoring of small birds and demonstrating the techniques involved.

He is currently making regular visits to Flat Holm, specialising in recording small birds, in particular pipits, finches and wheat-ears.

Thanks to funding from Environment Wales, the society is now able to offer volunteer, working weekends on the island, with opportunities to see Martin at work and learn some of the skills first hand.

We have a series of talks and workshops planned; all activities are open to everyone, and we welcome new members.
