The Newport Ship - work inside the coffer dam

The Newport Ship – work inside the coffer dam

This may be the last chance to see the Newport ship project for some time as the lease expires on the Ship Centre in autumn 2014. The Newport ship is the most intact 15th century sailing vessel in the world.

There is something for everyone, whether you are interested in sophisticated archaeological reconstruction through digital modelling, or just the incredible story of how the ship was found and preserved through the 11 years of the project.

We have a guided tour for up to 15 people booked at 12 noon. The tour is free, but you can make an individual donation to the project if you wish.

The Newport Wetlands Reserve is just 15 minutes drive away. Weather permitting we can transfer to the Reserve for a light lunch and an afternoon stroll.

We propose a car share to reach the Ship Centre where there is plenty of parking on the Maesglas Estate – please let the organiser know if you can take people or need a lift.yourself.
